I’m Elizabeth Pam, a mental health practitioner and the founder of Held & Heard, a reflective listening space rooted in presence, safety, and non-judgment.
I grew up in Northern Nigeria, in the city of Jos, where I witnessed firsthand the emotional impact of conflict and instability on individuals and communities. That early exposure shaped my commitment to supporting people, especially those navigating difficult, complex, or overwhelming experiences, by creating spaces where they can feel safe enough to process, reflect, and be heard.
My work is grounded in both lived experience and academic training. I hold a background in forensic psychology with a focus on child advocacy, and I have further specialized in criminal justice and the psychological experiences of victims within complex systems. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Psychology of Conflict, Risk and Safety at the University of Twente, where I continue to deepen my understanding of human behaviour in high-risk and vulnerable contexts.
Over the years, I have worked across therapeutic, community, and institutional settings—designing and facilitating wellbeing programs, supporting vulnerable individuals through emotionally demanding processes, and training professionals in safe, ethical engagement. My experience includes working with the Psychosocial Team at the International Criminal Court, where I supported witnesses navigating highly sensitive and often traumatic experiences. I have also designed and lead mindfulness-based programs for children focused on emotional regulation, resilience, and expression.
Through all of this, one thing has remained constant: the power of being truly heard.
Held & Heard was created as a response to that need, a space where you can speak freely, reflect honestly, and be met without pressure, labels, or judgment. My approach is simple but intentional: I listen, I hold space, and I allow you the room to hear yourself more clearly.
Please note: Held & Heard offers reflective listening and emotional support services and does not provide clinical therapy, diagnosis, or medical treatment. If you are in need of mental health care or crisis support, I encourage you to seek assistance from a licensed professional or appropriate services in your area.
